Associate Level III, Scientific Innovation
Design the next test that changes how the world gets diagnosed.
INSTI is the world's fastest test — 1 minute to a result, greater than 99% accurate. You'll help create what comes next.
bioLytical has been reinventing point-of-care diagnostics since 2002. Our INSTI tests carry a worldwide footprint of approvals — US FDA, Health Canada, WHO Prequalification, CE mark — and our pipeline is packed: Hepatitis C, Syphilis, and more on the way. We're looking for an Associate, Level III to join our Scientific Innovation team and take ownership of that pipeline.
This is a high-autonomy role for a scientist who wants to lead, not just execute. Reporting to the Director of Scientific Innovation, you'll drive the design and development of new rapid tests from concept toward launch — planning the studies, solving the hard problems, and pushing projects to the finish line. If you like owning the outcome and mentoring the people around you, you'll feel right at home.
What you'll be doing
Independently leading research, design verification, validation, and stability studies for new IVD medical devices
Shaping study objectives, experimental strategies, timelines, and resourcing to hit development milestones
Investigating and cracking complex technical problems around product performance and analytical methods
Developing, optimizing, and validating analytical methods, test procedures, and QC methodologies
Turning data into decisions — statistical analysis, sound conclusions, clear recommendations
Authoring the technical documentation that carries a product forward: DHF, V&V reports, risk files, regulatory submissions
Presenting findings to cross-functional teams, senior leadership, customers, and even regulatory agencies
Mentoring Research Associates and Technicians, and lifting the whole lab as you go
You'll thrive here if you...
Hold a Bachelor's or Master's in a life science — biochemistry, biotechnology, microbiology, biology, chemistry, or related
Bring 3+ years in a research or clinical laboratory
Have IVD industry and/or protein biochemistry experience (a strong asset)
Know GLP/GMP, and ideally have worked in a BSL2 lab or with 5S / Lean Six Sigma
Can work independently after a brief orientation, and write technical reports that hold up to scrutiny
Are comfortable working with blood and blood-borne pathogens
Communicate clearly, stay organized, and sweat the details
Why you'll love working here
We're a nimble, award-winning company where your work reaches real people — more tested, more diagnosed, more linked to care. You'll work alongside industry experts who are passionate about our mission and genuinely want to share in the experience of achieving results.
Competitive compensation and extended health benefits (dental, vision, RMT, and more)
Flexible working hours and paid sick days
A paid day off on your birthday, every single year
On-site gym with shower facilities and complimentary reserved parking
A team that works hard, celebrates wins, and knows how to have fun
