Marine and Shipbuilders CMAW Local 506 is currently accepting applications for Painter/Blasters to join the team supporting major government shipbuilding projects in North Vancouver.

Painter/Blasters play a critical role in preparing and coating ship surfaces to meet industry and client standards. You will utilize a range of mechanical tools, blasting techniques, and marine coating systems in a fast-paced and safety-focused shipyard environment.
Apply coatings using conventional, airless, and plural spray systems
Operate equipment such as blast pots, spray guns, and sandblasting tools
Maintain consistent paint thickness using spray, brush, and roller techniques
Apply epoxy, polyurethane, and high-solids coatings
Understand and apply wet and dry blast methods
Mix paints according to manufacturer specifications
Operate and maintain spray equipment, including troubleshooting
Mask surfaces to protect areas from overspray
Read and interpret MSDS, blueprints, and drawings
Comply with environmental and industry standards for coating and disposal
Perform other related duties as assigned
High School Diploma or equivalent vocational training
Minimum 2 years of coatings experience in shipbuilding or heavy industry
Familiarity with industrial high-performance coatings (preferred)
Understanding of modern shipbuilding processes and terminology (an asset)
Ability to read engineering/masking drawings and specifications (an asset)
Knowledge of SSPC/NACE coating standards (preferred)
Strong English communication skills – verbal and written
Positive attitude and ability to work collaboratively in a team
$54.95/hour – Starting wage for sprayers and blasters
Double time for all overtime hours
