We are currently hiring for the following positions:
- Senior Construction Inspector – Grade / Asphalt (RCSI)
- Junior Construction Inspector (RCJI)
- Office Person / Junior Inspector (RCJI)
General Responsibilities
Depending on the position, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Inspecting construction activities, operations, and workmanship to ensure compliance with contract documents, drawings, specifications, OPSS, OPSD, and applicable standards.
- Conducting site surveys, confirming scope of work, obtaining relevant information, and maintaining quality, quantity, and payment records in daily diaries.
- Preparing field reports and compiling field and test data for review by the Contract Administrator.
- Liaising and coordinating with contractors, utility companies, laboratories, and other service providers.
- Attending site meetings, pre-construction meetings, and site reconnaissance.
- Obtaining photographic and video records as required.
- Reviewing contractor questions and reporting technical issues to the Contract Administrator for resolution.
- Maintaining project records, correspondence, and documentation.
- Assisting with contract administration and payment documentation.
- Performing office administration duties where applicable.
- Working independently while managing multiple priorities and meeting project deadlines.
General Qualifications

- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Willingness to work days, nights, weekends, and overtime, as project requirements dictate.
- Valid Ontario driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Previous MTO or municipal transportation construction experience is considered an asset.
- Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) is considered an asset where applicable.
Position-Specific RequirementsSenior Construction Inspector – Grade / Asphalt (RCSI)
Applicants shall:
- Hold a current OACETT Road Construction Senior Inspector (RCSI) designation and provide a copy of a valid OACETT membership card.
- Possess a post-secondary degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, or Civil Engineering Technician.
- Have demonstrated Grade / Asphalt inspection experience on one (1) or more MTO or municipal resurfacing/reconstruction paving projects greater than five (5) kilometres within the last five (5) years, or equivalent.
- Have served as Senior Inspector – Grade / Asphalt on the referenced project(s) for a minimum of four (4) consecutive months.
- Clearly identify the projects, dates, and duration of the position in their resume.
Junior Construction Inspector (RCJI)
Applicants shall meet one of the following:
- Hold a current OACETT Road Construction Junior Inspector (RCJI) designation; or
- Be a new OACETT applicant working toward RCJI certification and willing to participate in a structured training program established by ASF Associates Inc.; or
- Be currently enrolled in a recognized university or community college engineering or construction-related program.
Office Person / Junior Inspector (RCJI)
The Office Person / Junior Inspector performs the duties of both an Office Person and a Junior Inspector, as required. The successful candidate will support the Contract Administrator, Project Manager, and field staff while assisting with construction inspection activities.
Applicants shall:
- Hold a current OACETT Road Construction Junior Inspector (RCJI) designation.
- Possess the ability to work independently and meet deadlines under pressure.
- Be familiar with field construction activities and office administration in a construction environment.
