Apothecary is an immersive Art Nouveau–inspired cocktail bar and dining experience located in the heart of Toronto. Inspired by Paris circa 1890–1910, our concept blends elevated hospitality, refined French-inspired cuisine, and world-class cocktails into one unforgettable guest experience.
We are currently seeking a passionate, organized, and driven Kitchen Manager to lead our culinary operations and support the continued growth of our kitchen team.
Position Overview
The Kitchen Manager is responsible for overseeing all back-of-house operations, maintaining culinary standards, managing inventory and labour costs, and ensuring smooth day-to-day service execution. This leadership role requires strong organizational skills, professionalism, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-standard environment.
The ideal candidate is someone who leads by example, values cleanliness and structure, and is passionate about hospitality and culinary excellence.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage daily kitchen operations and service execution
- Supervise, train, and mentor kitchen staff
- Maintain consistency, quality, and presentation standards across all dishes
- Manage inventory, ordering, food costs, and waste reduction
- Create and maintain prep lists, par levels, and organizational systems
- Ensure all health, safety, sanitation, and food handling standards are upheld
- Coordinate scheduling and labour management alongside leadership
- Conduct regular equipment checks and maintain kitchen cleanliness
- Work collaboratively with front-of-house leadership to ensure seamless service
- Support menu development, seasonal changes, and special event execution
- Maintain a calm, professional, and solution-oriented approach during service
Requirements
- Previous experience in a Kitchen Manager, Sous Chef, or leadership role
- Strong understanding of food safety and kitchen operations
- Ability to lead and motivate a team in a high-volume environment
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Experience with inventory systems, ordering, and cost controls
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and late-night services
- Passion for hospitality, fine dining, and creative culinary execution
- Culinary education is considered an asset
- Food Handler Certification required
