The Grizz Hotel is an independently owned boutique hotel located in the heart of Revelstoke, British Columbia. As we begin an exciting new chapter under new ownership, we are seeking an experienced, hands-on Hotel Manager to lead our daily operations, build an exceptional team, and create memorable guest experiences while embracing the welcoming spirit of Revelstoke.

Position Summary
The Hotel Manager is responsible for the overall leadership and day-to-day operation of The Grizz Hotel, ensuring exceptional guest experiences while maintaining efficient, profitable, and safe operations.
Reporting to ownership, the Hotel Manager will oversee all hotel departments, including Front Desk, Housekeeping, Maintenance, and Food & Beverage operations. This role also provides strategic oversight of the hotel's licensed bar by supervising the Bar Manager, ensuring operational excellence, regulatory compliance, financial performance, and a consistent guest experience. While the Bar Manager is responsible for the daily operation of the bar, the Hotel Manager is accountable for its overall success and alignment with the hotel's standards and objectives.

Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Operations
- Oversee the day-to-day operation of the hotel, ensuring smooth, efficient, and professional service across all departments.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve hotel policies, procedures, and operating standards.
- Foster a culture of exceptional customer service, teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Lead by example by maintaining a visible presence throughout the property and supporting staff as needed. Respond to operational issues or emergencies as required.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, operational standards, and applicable legislation.
- Manage vendor and contractor relationships.
- Support Supervisors in maintaining appropriate inventory levels for linens, guest amenities, housekeeping supplies, maintenance materials, and operational equipment.
Guest Experience
- Deliver an exceptional guest experience from arrival through departure; Address guest concerns and complaints promptly, professionally, and effectively.
- Monitor guest feedback, online reviews, and satisfaction scores, implementing improvements where necessary.
- Ensure the hotel consistently maintains high standards of cleanliness, presentation, and service.
People Leadership
- Recruit, hire, onboard, train, coach, and develop hotel employees.
- Lead and support department supervisors, including the Bar Manager, Front Desk Supervisor and Housekeeping Supervisor.
- Schedule staff to meet operational requirements while managing labour costs effectively.
- Promote a respectful, inclusive, and positive workplace culture.
Food & Beverage / Bar Oversight
- Provide high-level operational oversight of the hotel's licensed bar.
- Support the Bar Manager while empowering them to manage daily bar operations.
- Monitor financial performance, inventory controls, labour costs, and profitability of the bar.
- Ensure compliance with all liquor licensing regulations, Serving It Right requirements, health regulations, and company policies.
- Collaborate with the Bar Manager on staffing, scheduling, promotions, menu offerings, and special events.
- Support initiatives that enhance guest experience and maximize food and beverage revenue.
- Review operational performance and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
Financial Management
- Monitor hotel performance, including occupancy, Average Daily Rate (ADR), RevPAR, labour costs, departmental expenses, and profitability.
- Oversee financial performance across both accommodation and food & beverage operations.
- Approve invoices, monitor purchasing activities, and ensure responsible cost management.
- Prepare regular operational and financial reports for ownership.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with WorkSafeBC requirements, health regulations, and company safety policies.
- Maintain emergency preparedness procedures and business continuity plans.
- Ensure all hotel and licensed bar operations comply with provincial regulations and licensing requirements.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3–5 years of progressive hospitality management experience.
- Previous hotel, resort, or hospitality management experience preferred.
- Experience leading multi-department teams.
- Strong financial and business acumen with experience managing budgets and labour costs.
- Experience overseeing licensed food and beverage operations is considered a strong asset.
- Excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
- Strong organizational, planning, and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience using hotel property management systems (PMS) and reservation software.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard business software.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence is considered an asset.

Working Conditions
