The Candidate:
We are actively looking for a lawyer to join a busy and growing litigation practice. This is an outstanding opportunity for a motivated and energetic lawyer with an interest in commercial litigation, family law or general/civil litigation.
The successful candidate will have strong communication skills, a strong work ethic, and sharp attention to detail. They will have the opportunity to work directly with experienced Partners who take an active role in mentoring and training lawyers, while also being provided the opportunity to manage their own files and continue developing their practice.
Experience in some of the following general duties is preferred:
- Advise and represent clients in court, before government agencies, and in private legal matters
- Communicate with clients, colleagues, judges, opposing counsel, and others involved in the matter
- Conduct research and analysis of legal issues
- Interpret laws, rulings, and regulations for individuals and businesses
- Prepare and file legal documents, including pleadings, applications, motions, and other litigation materials
- Present facts in writing and verbally, and advocate on behalf of clients
- Manage litigation files from beginning to end
- Advise clients with respect to commercial litigation and dispute matters
Qualifications:
- LLB/J.D. from an accredited law school
- Member in good standing with the Law Society of British Columbia
- Litigation experience, ideally with exposure to commercial litigation
- Strong research, drafting, and advocacy skills
- Ability to run a caseload from beginning to end
- Confident engaging and interacting with clients
- Proactive and organized work style
- Client-service oriented and team player
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to establish clear direction to others and comfortable with task delegation
