Job Overview
We are seeking an Artificial Lift Automation Field Technician to install, troubleshoot, and maintain edge computing devices, cellular radios, and variable speed drives for our Oil & Gas customers. The ideal candidate will provide expert technical support both onsite and remotely, ensuring optimal system performance. Additionally, this role involves training customers and contractors on proper equipment use and maintenance.

Duties
- Troubleshoot and repair low voltage control systems.
- Troubleshoot Variable Speed Drives (VSDs).
- Take measurements in live cabinets, up to 600V.
- Train contractors and customers on the use and installation of proprietary equipment.
- Maintain a positive relationship with customers, ensuring their needs are met.
- Independently schedule and plan work efficiently.
- Collaborate with hardware and software engineers to solve problems and develop innovative solutions.
- Maintain organized records and complete required documentation (Work Permits, Lock Out Tag Out, Job Safety Analysis).
- Install, configure, and calibrate automation equipment and control systems.
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on automated machinery.
- Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and software issues within automation systems.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to develop and implement process improvements.
- Document system configurations, maintenance activities, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Assist in the commissioning of new automation equipment and upgrades.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies during all operations.
- Provide technical support to production staff regarding automation processes.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working in industrial or oil field environments.
- Electrical and Instrument Technologist Diploma, Journeyman Instrument or Electrical Ticket, or Engineering Degree or have the ability to demonstrate equivalent experience.
- Clean Driving Abstract.
- Experience troubleshooting live electrical equipment.
- Familiarity with electrical meters.
- Basic to intermediate computer skills, with the ability to quickly learn new software.
- Understanding of AC and DC circuits.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, sensors, motors, and robotics used in manufacturing automation.
- Ability to read electrical schematics, technical manuals, and control diagrams.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating across teams and documenting procedures.
- Knowledge of SCADA systems, robotics integration, or software programming languages such as Python or C++.
