Position Overview
We are currently seeking a Bilingual Scale House Attendant (French/English) to join our team at a waste management facility. This position serves as the first point of contact for customers entering the site and plays a key role in customer service, payment processing, administrative support, and maintaining a safe work environment.
The ideal candidate is professional, detail-oriented, comfortable working in both an office and industrial environment, and able to communicate fluently in both French and English.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers and direct vehicle traffic entering the facility
- Answer customer questions and provide excellent customer service
- Accurately calculate and process customer payments
- Inspect incoming loads to ensure compliance with site regulations
- Monitor customer and employee adherence to safety policies and PPE requirements
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the Scale House
- Complete administrative duties including filing, reporting, and data entry
- Communicate any issues or concerns to management promptly
- Attend company training sessions and meetings as required
- Assist with additional customer service and clerical tasks as needed
- Work overtime when required
- Maintain a professional, friendly, and service-oriented attitude with customers, vendors, and coworkers
Qualifications Required
- Fluent in both French and English (spoken and written)
- High School Diploma or GED
- 0–4 years of related experience
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Basic computer and data entry skills
- Ability to work independently and follow safety procedures
Preferred
- Previous experience in customer service, administration, reception, scale operations, logistics, or related environments
- Additional training or specialized education
Working Conditions
- Office-based work within a Scale House environment
- Regular keyboarding and computer use
- Occasional lifting of items up to 30 lbs
- Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, dirt, odors, noise, and industrial environments
- Occasional exposure to occupational hazards associated with waste management operations
