Position Summary
Reporting to the Feed Manager, the Aquaculture Technician (Feeder) is responsible for feeding fish to ensure optimal growth and size for harvest. Feeding is done with great care to minimize waste while maintaining a clean environment. This work is carried out remotely by connecting to the barge software specific to the site being fed.

Key Responsibilities
- Work with managers to develop and execute proper site-specific feed regimes.
- Monitor feed behavior and feed response and adjust feed rate accordingly.
- Monitor weather and real-time water quality data to ensure conditions are suitable for feeding.
- Monitor the health status of the fish.
- Collect environmental and mortality data from site staff and document. This includes both reports and fishtalk management.
- Monitor and troubleshoot barge and site equipment.
- Maintain effective communication with site staff to ensure equipment is in working condition to support feeding. This requires using AKVA feeding software and barge monitoring systems.
- Support the site manager in ensuring the feed system is properly calibrated.
- Complete, send and upload daily reports.
- Understand and adhere to government regulations, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), Workplace NL and Company biosecurity rules and practices.
- Ensure full adherence to and compliance with all procedures and policies established by the Cermaq group of companies.

- Valid Class 5 driver's license.
Training, Education, and Experience
- Aquaculture Certificate or Diploma from an accredited institution is preferred.
- Post-secondary education in Aquaculture, Aquatic Resources, Biology, Marine Biology, Fisheries Resource Management, Animal Science, or a related field is considered an asset.
- Previous experience in aquaculture, agriculture, animal husbandry, monitoring, production, or a related operational environment is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of fish behaviour, fish health, feeding practices, and aquaculture operations is considered an asset.
- Combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
Working Site Conditions and Expectations
Position Location:
Based in an office in Marystown, NL
Working Conditions:
Primarily an indoor role involving the monitoring of fish behaviour, feeding activity, environmental conditions, and operational systems through cameras and software platforms. Occasional visits to sea sites may be required.
Work Schedule:
Rotational schedule of 8 days on and 6 days off. 40-hour work week.
Schedule Requirements:
Overtime or schedule adjustments may be required to support operational needs.
Physical Requirements:
Primarily desk-based; prolonged periods of sitting, computer use, and monitoring multiple screens. Occasional standing, walking, and travel to operational sites may be required.
Travel Requirements:
Occasional travel to sea site locations, training sessions, meetings, or other Company locations as required.
