A Loving Spoonful is a dynamic not-for-profit organization. We are a volunteer-driven charitable society delivering free meals and nutritional support to individuals and families living with HIV and other co-existing illnesses, while also supporting vulnerable populations through subsidized meal programs.
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Dishwasher and General Kitchen Support individual to join our team in a dynamic kitchen environment. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a passion for food service. This role is essential in supporting our kitchen team by ensuring that all dishes are completed daily, maintaining cleanliness, adhering to safety standards, and supporting the kitchen when needed in other areas, with room for growth and opportunity.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a level of cleanliness and safety at your station to set the tone for all areas of the kitchen.
- Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas to maintain a safe and hygienic environment.
- Help prepare utensils and dishware for catering orders, clean and organize incoming dishes.
- Follow proper food handling procedures to ensure quality and safety of all food products.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely service during meal periods- help with food prep as needed.
- Participate in inventory management by keeping washed equipment and dishware stocked and organized.
Requirements
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
- Familiarity with food safety regulations and best practices for food handling is desirable.
- Knowledge of basic food preparation methods is a plus.
- Drivers license not mandatory but welcomed.
