What is the job all about?
The Advanced Manufacturing Engineer at Phantom Screens combines traditional process expertise with forward-thinking technology leadership. Working alongside our Quality, Operational Excellence and Product Design teams, you'll drive our Lean Six Sigma journey and automation transition. This senior manufacturing role leads the planning, organizing, and controlling of manufacturing activities essential to delivering the Phantom Experience.
You'll foster a culture of safety, quality, and productivity while serving as a senior technical leader. The role demands deep expertise in automated manufacturing systems, mentoring capabilities, and championship of our strategic vision.
Automation is integral to this role, requiring deep technical expertise in automated manufacturing systems to drive operational excellence and competitive advantage. Our 95,000 sq.ft. manufacturing facility is located in West Abbotsford, where we have equipment from all over the world. Phantom is constantly innovating, automating and improving our production process. You will work in a team with other Engineers to help troubleshoot existing systems when our maintenance team requires support and assist in keeping our Quality at 100% every time. We are constantly innovating, automating and improving our production flow. Automation is new to Phantom and you can be on the leading edge of its development with us.

What you will do:
Manufacturing & Process Excellence
- Provide technical leadership in manufacturing processes, automation, and CNC operations
- Collaborate with Product Design to ensure new designs are manufacturable with repeatable, efficient quality
- Analyze and design lean manufacturing systems optimizing space, equipment, materials, and personnel
- Develop Standardized Work Combination Tables and integrate automated solutions
- Lead complex PFMEAs and DOEs for proper process implementation and optimization
- Engineer functional tooling, fixtures, and jigs while ensuring optimized processes
- Act as facility expert on new manufacturing technologies and applicable legislation
Technical Specifications & Equipment
- Develop and ensure specifications are met for processes, products, and services
- Interpret technical procedures, schematics, diagrams, and blueprints
- Manage equipment builds, automation projects, and commissioning processes
New Product Development
- Provide design-for-manufacturability guidance during product development phases
- Lead and manage current and new product introductions
- Develop, test, and validate complex manufacturing processes
- Implement product identification and traceability systems
Continuous Improvement & Quality
- Perform time, motion, and methods studies using lean frameworks and Toyota tools
- Analyze quality data and customer feedback to drive root-cause corrective actions
- Develop and manage calibration and verification programs
- Audit manufacturing and maintenance management system effectiveness
Leadership & Development
- Mentor junior engineers and production staff with training and career planning
- Lead cross-functional meetings to resolve complex challenges
- Design new procedures, plant layouts, and process plans
- Support continuous improvement teams and vendor assessments
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure manufacturing safety policies are implemented and maintained
- Develop safe work instructions and complete assigned safety tasks
Requirements
Who You Are:
- Strategic, analytical thinker who maintains composure in complex situations
- Excellent communicator capable of presenting to management, vendors, and teams
- Strong mathematical abilities with expert knowledge of data analysis and statistical methods
- Flexible with non-regular hours for critical projects
The skills you have:
- Proficient in SolidWorks/AutoCAD for advanced modeling
- Advanced Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
- Familiar with MS Project, Minitab, CMMS, and ERP systems
What have you learned?
- Academic: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent.
- Certifications: Lean certification and/or Six Sigma certification are highly desirable for this senior position.
Where have you worked before?
- Minimum 5+ years of progressive experience in a manufacturing/assembly environment, with a proven track record of leading NPI, extensive automation system integration, and significant continuous improvement initiatives with emphasis on automated manufacturing solutions.
The pay range for this position is expected to be between $100,000-$125,000 depending on your experience and skills.
