On behalf of our client in Alberta we are currently recruiting for an experience Senior Silviculture Forester. This is an exiting new role for an experienced Registered Silviculture Forester to become a valued member of the Woodlands.
Duties
- Lead and coordinate silvicultural research projects focused on forest regeneration, growth, and health.
- Collect and analyze field data related to forest conditions, species composition, and growth metrics.
- Utilize GIS platforms such as ArcGIS and AutoCAD for spatial analysis, mapping, and project planning.
- Develop and implement data collection protocols ensuring accuracy and consistency across projects.
- Conduct advanced data analysis using Python and other analytical tools to interpret research findings.
- Support environmental assessments by integrating laboratory experience with field observations.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on forest management strategies, including mechanical treatments and planting plans.
- Prepare detailed reports, presentations, and technical documentation for stakeholders and regulatory agencies.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior staff or interns involved in forestry research or fieldwork.
Requirements
- Proven laboratory experience related to forestry or environmental sciences.
- Strong proficiency with GIS software such as ArcGIS and AutoCAD for spatial data management.
- Excellent data analysis skills utilizing Python or similar programming languages.
- Experience with data collection methodologies in field settings.
- Demonstrated research capabilities within forestry or ecological contexts.
- Mechanical knowledge relevant to forestry equipment or tools is preferred.
- Knowledge of horticulture practices applicable to forest regeneration efforts.
- Familiarity with environmental regulations and sustainable forest management principles.
- Bachelor’s degree in Forestry, Environmental Science, or a related field; advanced degrees are preferred. Pay: $100,000.00-$130,000.00 per year
