Shining Stars Swim School was founded by Paige Lacroix, a female industry professional of 10 years prior to opening her own company, who is passionate about Water Safety and Drowning Prevention. The Shining Stars Program was written with a Survival-First Approach, teaching children what to do in the case of an accidental fall in the water before teaching swim skills and techniques. We have a Year-Round Program and believe in a Progress Driven style of teaching rather than the usual Pass/Fail system.
Our Swim Instructors teach the Shining Stars Program and follow our 4 Core Values: Prevention & Survival First, Progress Over Perfection, Partners With Parents, and Positive Experiences.
We offer students swimming lessons in Hamilton Ontario, and also offer backyard swimming lessons in the GTHA and Tri-City Areas.
We are looking for instructors to join our team at our Hamilton Location as well as looking to hire travelling instructors to backyard pools from June - August.
Responsibilities Include:
- Provide safe and high-quality swimming lessons to students ages 2 and up in private, semi-private, and group classes.
- Learn and Teach the Shining Stars Program.
- Arrive at each lesson prepared and on time.
- Provide clear verbal and hands-on corrections to students.
- Communicate with parents/guardians, supervisors, team.
- Hours will range between 8-16 hours/ week with the potential for more.
- Opportunity to work extra events, and lifeguard pool parties.
- Be a good role model and brand representative.
Qualification Requirements:
All certifications must be current prior to start date.
- Must be at least 15 years old
- Must have/ or be willing to obtain National Lifeguard (NL) Certification
- Must have/ or be willing to obtain Standard First Aid (SFA) Certification
- Must have/ or be willing to obtain a Criminal Record - Vulnerable Sector Check (18+)
- Preferred G2 or G license and access to a car (For Travelling Instructors)
- Previous Lifeguard Experience is an Asset
- Previous Experience Working with Children is an Asset
