Job Description:
The Physiotherapist assumes the clinical responsibility for services to infants and children with a physical and /or documented developmental delay/ disability. The Physiotherapist functions as a member of a multidisciplinary team providing services such as: assessment, direct intervention and consultation to families and other caregivers. These services take place at CHEO service delivery sites, the home environment and/or childcare settings.

Provides individual assessments related to gross motor function, mobility equipment and accessibility

Provides intervention in the form of direct therapy (group or individual), consultation and/or written programs.

Participates in team meetings and other support functions related to the delivery of physiotherapy services

Provides in-services, professional and community presentations on all aspects of physiotherapy.

Participates in quality improvement activities and initiatives.

Participates in clinical teaching and supervision of student interns from accredited physiotherapy programs.

Participates in staff development and relevant research activities.

Registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario (Essential)

Minimum two years recent/related experience working with infants and preschool children with developmental delays or disabilities. (Essential)

Demonstrates flexibility in working within other programs and ability to adapt to a changing caseload and venues for service delivery. (Essential)

Computer skills an asset (MS Word, MS Outlook, MS PowerPoint). (Essential)

Excellent communication skills (oral and written) and ability to work in a team setting. (Essential)

Training in N.D.T. (Neuro Developmental Technique) and/or other specialized techniques (Preferred)

Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal skills (Essential)

Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle (Essential)

Bilingualism (English and French) (Essential)

Effective March 29, 2021, CHEO will conduct a more comprehensive pre-screening and evaluation process. This process may include more varied and multidimensional testing such as a written test, practical exam, or other assessment. All candidates who meet the essential and preferred qualifications may be tested.
