As Manager of Contracts and Documentation, you'll oversee the development, negotiation support, drafting, execution, and administration of production agreements from development through delivery. You'll ensure contractual rights are accurately captured and managed, provide expert guidance on production commitments, and lead a team responsible for delivering high-quality contract administration that supports APTN's extensive volume of original programming.
Highlights of this opportunity:

Reviews and executes original programming legal agreements after the principal terms of the deal are negotiated and finalized;

Responds to all general inquiries relating to legal;

Advises on and reviews all legally binding commitments related to programming;

Participates in the development and implementation of long-term organizational strategic and business plans;

Issues notice to producers/distributors when they are in substantial breach of contractual obligations;

Develops a comprehensive understanding of the CRTC broadcast license and other industry standard guidelines;

Attends interdepartmental working groups to ensure Programming issues are addressed, as required;

Drafts legal documents prior to review by APTN’s legal counsel, as needed;

Ensures the secure handling and storage of confidential documents;

Responsible for human resources related functions including: interviewing, recruiting and training employees, planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Your accomplishments and experience include:

Post secondary education in a relevant discipline and 5 years related experience (contract law, entertainment/business affairs law); or equivalent combination of education, experience, and traditional knowledge;

Experience executing and managing legal and financial documents;

Supervisory or managerial experience;

Experience working with an Indigenous organization & knowledge of Indigenous cultural perspectives is an asset;

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
