Position Type: Part-time (0.8), contract ending December 31, 2026, with possibility of extension following funding renewal
Position Summary:
Working closely with the Engagement, Support, and Outreach Lead, the Volunteer Scheduling Assistant is responsible for coordinating and scheduling a diverse and dedicated team of volunteers in support of programs and services offered by the Lethbridge Senior Citizens Organization.
This role is highly public-facing and requires strong interpersonal skills, as the successful candidate will regularly engage with volunteers and members. The ideal candidate is exceptionally organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities effectively.
Flexibility is essential, as this position may require evening and weekend work to support events and programming needs.

To perform this job successfully the individual must be able to achieve the responsibilities listed below with excellence, focusing on work quality, timeliness, and precision. All LSCO employees are expected to perform responsibilities to meet organizational and funding requirements as directed by mandate and policy.
Volunteer Management & Support
- Coordinate volunteer orientation and training sessions to ensure readiness and alignment with the LSCO’s goals and values;
- Assign volunteers to roles that fit their skill set and ensure adequate coverage for all activities;
- Schedule volunteers for their allotted shift for all LSCO volunteer opportunities, making changes when necessary;
- Maintaining regular communication with volunteers regarding schedules via phone and email;
- Fill in volunteer shifts when needed (Bingo, kitchen, Meals on Wheels, etc.);
- Work closely with the Engagement, Support, and Outreach Lead to help recruit volunteers by attending community events.
- Other duties as assigned.
Administration
- Maintain accurate records of volunteer hours and contributions by maintaining the database of volunteer information, schedules, availability, and contact information.
Education & Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in nonprofit management, human resources or related field (or equivalent experience);
- Experience in volunteer management, community engagement or program coordination (preferable in a nonprofit setting);
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
- Able to work independently but collaborate within interagency multidisciplinary teams;
- Must have adequate experience and skill with personal computers and office productivity software;
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize the needs of volunteers and scheduling requirements;
- Current Criminal Record Check (within 90 days of employment).
