STEAM, Robotics & Science Instructor (After-School Program)
Location: Burnaby School District (SD41), British Columbia
Position Type: Part-Time, Contract
Schedule: Weekday afternoons (approximately 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM)
Compensation: $35–$45 per hour (based on experience)
About Mindora Learning
Mindora Learning provides engaging after-school enrichment programs for children in Grades K–7 across Burnaby schools. Our programs focus on STEAM education, robotics, science, arts, music, academic support, and personal development.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced STEAM, Robotics & Science Instructor to lead hands-on learning experiences that inspire curiosity, creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving.
About the Role
As a STEAM Instructor, you will deliver engaging after-school programs that combine science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics. Students participate in age-appropriate coding, robotics, engineering challenges, science experiments, and collaborative projects.
Programs serve children ages 5–12 and are delivered in three age groups:
- Explorers (Grades K–2): Hands-on science, engineering challenges, BeeBots, Cubetto, and screen-free coding activities.
- Builders (Grades 3–4): Scratch coding, robotics, design challenges, and scientific investigations.
- Innovators (Grades 5–7): Python fundamentals, advanced robotics, engineering projects, and real-world problem-solving challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging STEAM, robotics, and science lessons.
- Facilitate hands-on coding, robotics, engineering, and science activities.
- Create a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment.
- Adapt activities for different ages and learning styles.
- Set up and maintain program equipment and materials.
- Communicate regularly with the Program Coordinator regarding student progress and program outcomes.
- Follow all school district policies and safety procedures.
QualificationsRequired
- Degree, diploma, certificate, or equivalent experience in Education, Computer Science, Engineering, Science, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience working with children ages 5–12 in educational, camp, after-school, or enrichment settings.
- Experience teaching coding, robotics, STEM/STEAM, or science programs.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.
- Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
- Emergency First Aid & CPR Certification (or willingness to obtain before start date).
Preferred
- Experience with LEGO Education SPIKE, VEX, Scratch, micro:bit, BeeBots, Cubetto, or similar platforms.
- Experience coaching FIRST LEGO League (FLL) or robotics competitions.
- Knowledge of Python or other programming languages.
- Experience working in diverse and inclusive educational environments.
