This position is open to all qualified ONA staff throughout Lakeridge Health commencing 28 May 2026 and closing at 11:59 pm on 4 June 2026.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The position requires a commitment to the principles of optimal patient care, a positive attitude, continuous learning, and quality improvement.
As a member of the Systemic Therapy Department nursing team, the nurse will focus on providing exceptional patient and family focused care while supporting the administration of cancer treatments. The nurse will participate as an active member of the Interdisciplinary Health Care Team and maintain competence and professionalism relevant to current practice. The position requires a commitment to continuous learning, and support an environment of safety and quality.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (in good standing)
- Current B.C.L.S
- Demonstrated commitment to maintain Reflective Practice Standards as outlined by the CNO
- Must have completed the de Souza Standardized Chemotherapy Biotherapy Course or ONS equivalent
- Willing to obtain the Canadian Oncology Certification within two years of being successful in posting into this position
- A recognized Oncology Certificate Course is recommended
- Recent experience in Oncology Nursing
- Must have competence in CVAD care and maintenance and I.V. therapy
- Ability to work and perform in stressful and emotionally intense situations, caring for vulnerable patients and their families
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to foster good therapeutic relationships in a family centred care environment
- Knowledge and experience in wound care an asset
- Experience in providing patients and families with health teaching
- Excellent and professional communication skills both written and verbal
- Effective time management, critical thinking and mentoring skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively as situations warrant
- Demonstrated ability to assume a leadership role through collaboration and participation in process improvement initiatives.
- Demonstrated commitment to our core values of Inclusion, Compassion, Innovation, Teamwork and Joy
- Radiation oncology experience an asset
- B.Sc.N is preferred
- RNAO and CANO membership is an asset
- Must have a satisfactory performance record
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety and environmental safety and participation in regular in-service in this area
