Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Social Worker (RSW) or Social Service Worker (SSW) to join our growing team. In this role, you will provide direct, trauma-informed social work services to individuals and families across diverse populations, including children and youth, adults with disabilities, and individuals experiencing mental health and addictions challenges. You will work collaboratively with clients, families, and community partners to assess needs, develop care plans, and deliver meaningful intervention and advocacy.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments and develop individualised care and intervention plans.
- Provide direct casework, counselling, and crisis intervention services to clients of all ages.
- Advocate on behalf of clients to connect them with appropriate community resources and social services.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, healthcare providers, schools, and community agencies to support client goals.
- Support clients experiencing mental health challenges, addictions, housing instability, domestic violence, or family conflict.
- Facilitate group programs, workshops, and psychoeducational sessions as required.
- Deliver culturally responsive services that honour the diversity of clients and communities served.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential case documentation in compliance with agency and regulatory standards.
- Participate in supervision, team meetings, case conferences, and professional development activities.
- Adhere to the OCSWSSW Code of Ethics, Standards of Practice, and all agency policies.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
- Current registration in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) as an RSW or SSW.
- Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) or Master of Social Work (MSW) from an accredited institution; SSW diploma considered for Social Service Worker classification.
- Minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience in direct service delivery (mental health, child welfare, community support, or related field).
- Demonstrated knowledge of trauma-informed practice, anti-oppressive frameworks, and strengths-based approaches.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Current crisis intervention training (CPI, Safe Management, UMAB, or equivalent).
- Valid and current Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Valid Ontario driver’s licence, vehicle insurance, and access to a reliable vehicle with the ability to travel within Ontario as required.
- Strong assessment, communication, and clinical documentation skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and on-call rotations.
