Kingston Health Sciences Centre (KHSC) is one of Canada’s top 25 research hospitals and an Academic Health Sciences Centre affiliated with Queen’s University. We are proud to deliver specialized, family‑centred neonatal care while supporting education, discovery, and clinical excellence.
We are currently seeking a Part-Time Registered Nurse to join our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)—a highly skilled, collaborative environment providing care to some of our most vulnerable patients.
Approximately 400 babies are admitted to the NICU each year, where care is delivered 24 hours a day by an interdisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, and respiratory therapists. The NICU team also supports high‑risk mothers prior to delivery, ensuring families are informed, supported, and actively involved in care planning.
At Kingston General Hospital, the NICU provides Level I, Level II, and Level III neonatal care:
- Level I: Neonatal resuscitation, postnatal care, and stabilization of newborns
- Level II: Care for moderately ill infants or those recovering from serious illness
- Level III: Care for critically ill, extremely premature infants, and those requiring surgical intervention
As a Registered Nurse in the NICU, you will:
- Deliver comprehensive, evidence‑based nursing care to neonates requiring Level I–III support
- Collaborate closely with the interprofessional care team to support optimal patient outcomes
- Provide compassionate, family‑centred care and education to parents and caregivers
- Participate in quality improvement, education, and professional practice initiatives within the unit
- Current registration (or eligibility for registration) with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
- Neonatal or critical care nursing experience preferred
- Demonstrated commitment to patient‑ and family‑centred care
- Strong communication, teamwork, and critical‑thinking skills
- Satisfactory Criminal Reference Check required
KHSC is located on the ancestral lands and waters of the Anishinaabeg and Haudenosaunee and serves a wide geographic region that includes many Indigenous communities. As partners in care, discovery, and learning, we are committed to advancing reconciliation and responding to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action on Health.
We offer a supportive practice environment, opportunities for professional growth, and the chance to make a meaningful impact in the lives of patients and families.
