Overview
We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator/Labourer to join our construction team. This role involves operating a variety of heavy machinery and supporting construction projects with safety and efficiency. The ideal candidate will have experience with equipment such as dozers, loaders, backhoes, excavators, graders, and caterpillar machinery, along with a solid understanding of mechanical systems. This position offers an opportunity to work on diverse projects including paving, horizontal drilling, and general construction tasks. Candidates must possess a valid commercial driver’s license and demonstrate a strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment including dozers, loaders, backhoes, excavators, graders, and paving machinery to execute construction tasks efficiently.
- Perform routine maintenance and mechanical checks on equipment to ensure optimal functioning.
- Support excavation, grading, paving, and horizontal drilling activities in accordance with project specifications.
- Safely maneuver equipment around job sites while adhering to safety protocols.
- Assist with site preparation, material handling, and other labourer duties as needed.
- Follow all safety guidelines and maintain a clean work environment to prevent accidents or injuries.
- Collaborate with team members to meet project deadlines and quality standards.
- Conduct pre-operation inspections and report any mechanical issues promptly.
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating heavy equipment such as dozers, loaders, backhoes, excavators, graders, and Caterpillar machinery.
- Mechanical knowledge related to heavy machinery maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) preferred or required depending on project needs.
- Knowledge of construction processes including paving and horizontal drilling is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of safety procedures in construction environments.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and lift heavy materials when necessary.
- Prior experience in construction or related fields is preferred but not mandatory; willingness to learn is essential. Pay: $22.00-$30.00 per hour
