Norwest Precision Ltd. is a Canadian-owned precision machining company specializing in large-part CNC machining, fabrication, and manufacturing for customers across the mining, energy, transportation, industrial, and heavy equipment sectors. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Metal Finishing, Painting & Production Technician to join our production team.
This hands-on role is ideal for an individual who takes pride in producing high-quality finished products and enjoys working in a modern manufacturing environment with large, complex machined components.
Responsibilities
Metal Finishing & Surface Preparation
- Deburr, grind, sand, polish, and blend machined surfaces to customer and engineering specifications.
- Remove burrs, sharp edges, tooling marks, and surface imperfections from large, machined components.
- Perform final surface preparation prior to painting, assembly, or shipment.
- Conduct visual inspections to ensure parts meet quality and appearance standards.
Industrial Painting & Coating
- Prepare components for painting through cleaning, masking, and surface treatment processes.
- Apply industrial primers, paints, and protective coatings using spray equipment and other application methods.
- Verify coating quality, coverage, and finish requirements.
- Maintain paint equipment, booths, and work areas in a clean and safe condition.
Production & Shop Support
- Assist with the movement, handling, packaging, and shipment of large, machined components.
- Safely operate overhead cranes, forklifts, and material handling equipment (training and certification provided where required).
- Support machining, fabrication, assembly, and production departments as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work environment.
- All other duties as assigned.
Quality & Safety
- Follow all company quality standards, procedures, and work instructions.
- Identify and report quality concerns or non-conforming products.
- Adhere to all workplace safety policies, PPE requirements, and safe work practices.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and team-based problem solving.
Qualifications
Required
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a manufacturing or machine shop environment.
- Experience in manufacturing, metal finishing, industrial painting, fabrication, or machine shop environments.
- Proficiency with grinders, sanders, polishing tools, and other finishing equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to read and follow work instructions and production documentation.
- Ability to safely handle large and heavy components in an industrial environment.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and positive attitude.
Preferred
- Experience applying industrial paints, primers, and protective coatings.
- Experience working in a shop environment with large machined parts or heavy industrial equipment.
- Forklift and overhead crane experience.
- Knowledge of surface preparation techniques and coating standards.
- WHMIS, forklift, crane, or related industrial certifications.

Pay: $22.00-$26.00 per hour
