WHAT THE ROLE IS ALL ABOUT!
Reporting to the Foreman, Northern Modular, the Carpenter, Northern Modular, will carry out general carpentry duties and assist in the assembly of pre-engineered modular buildings and structures within a controlled shop environment. Work is completed indoors in a heated production facility located in Lundar, Manitoba. Camp accommodations are available for employees who reside outside of the local area.
ESSENTIAL CONTRIBUTIONS WE NEED FROM YOU!
- Construct the framework of modular buildings, including walls, floors, and roof systems.
- Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join materials made of wood, wood substitutions, lightweight steel, and other building materials.
- Operate and maintain carpentry tools and equipment safely and effectively.
- Review packing slips to verify the quantity and type of modular building components.
- Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and project plans accurately.
- Operate electrical, air-powered, and manual hand tools as required for construction activities.
- Provide general labour support to other team members as needed or directed by supervisor.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with company safety policies.
- Collaborate with other trades and team members to ensure efficient workflow and timely project completion.
WHAT WILL MAKE YOU BE A POSITIVE IMPACT?
- Proven experience in residential carpentry is required.
- Knowledge of assembly methods used in modular building construction will be considered an asset.
- Carpenter Apprenticeship or Red Seal Certification will be considered an asset.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and material lists accurately.
- Proficient in the safe operation of power tools, hand tools, and related carpentry equipment.
- Physically fit and able to perform repetitive tasks, lift materials, and work in a fast-paced shop environment.
- Certifications such as Fall Protection and First Aid will be considered assets.
- Strong commitment to safety, ensuring all work is performed in a safe and responsible manner.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written as well as electronically.
- Demonstrate a positive attitude and eagerness to expand skills in modular construction and/or residential builds.
- Ability and willingness to travel and work in remote or northern communities on occasion.
- Must have a valid Class 5 driver’s license.
