Midlite Construction LP. is an equal opportunity employer and is actively seeking a skilled and dedicated skilled Heavy Equipment Technician (HET) to join our team in Fort McMurray providing expert maintenance and repair services for a wide range of industrial and construction machinery. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic knowledge, with experience working on heavy equipment. This role is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining our fleet of light-duty vehicles, heavy trucks, trailers, and construction equipment to ensure they remain safe, reliable, and ready for the job.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic issues.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as inspections, lubrication, and part replacements to ensure optimal equipment performance
- Conduct repairs using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and schematics to restore machinery to operational standards
- Assemble new equipment components and assist with installation projects as needed
- Operate heavy equipment safely during maintenance procedures when required
- Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams to accurately diagnose problems
- Maintain detailed service records of repairs and maintenance activities
- Complete service records, inspection reports, and work orders accurately.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and environmental regulations during all work activities
- Collaborate with team members to improve maintenance procedures and reduce downtime
Experience
- Proven dealership or industrial equipment repair experience preferred
- Hands-on experience working with cranes, forklifts, or similar heavy equipment
- Strong background in mechanical repair including welding, assembly, and the use of hand tools and power tools
- Knowledge of HVAC systems or automotive repair is a plus
- Familiarity with schematics and electrical systems for troubleshooting complex machinery issues
- Experience working with farm machinery or other large industrial equipment is advantageous
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and operate heavy equipment when necessary
- Prior mechanic experience combined with excellent customer service skills is desirable
- Demonstrated ability to work independently or as part of a team in fast-paced environments
