The Job:
Heavy Metal Equipment & Rentals is expanding rapidly, and we’re searching for Heavy Equipment Technicians (HETs) with open pit mining experience to join our team in our remote Newfoundland/Labrador location.
An excellent HET will be:
- Able to understand equipment systems to effectively and efficiently determine the necessary route for repairs
- A technician that strives to provide the highest levels of service and quality of work with Heavy Metal's best interest at the forefront of all tasks

- Experienced, competent and able to repair, troubleshoot, adjust, overhaul and maintain mobile heavy-duty equipment

Based on a remote site in Newfoundland/Labrador, you’ll work on a 14/14 rotation in a safety-first environment. With 12-hour shifts and the potential to alternate sets between days and nights, you’ll rack up 80 regular hours and 88 overtime hours per rotation.
Working at this site, your full-time position may only be available to you 9 months of year, as determined by the client.
Accommodations are provided in a camp setting. Flights are provided from hub locations (Montreal, Quebec City, St. John's, Gander, Deer Lake, Halifax and Moncton). It is the HET's responsibility to get to the hub location.
What We’re Looking For:
- A desire to make a difference and take pride in your work
- Apprentice, Red Seal/Journeyman Certification (or equivalent experience)
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with large mining equipment (CAT, Komatsu, John Deere, Hitachi)
- Advanced troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
- Superior mechanical aptitude
- Commitment to safety and teamwork
- Able to pass a respiratory fit test, meet fitness standards, and handle 50 lbs
- Clean Driver's Abstract and Advanced Class 5 License with Air Brakes
