Technical & Maintenance Excellence
Diagnose & Repair: Identify and resolve operational difficulties with heavy-duty diesel trucks, hydraulic systems, and related equipment.
Multi-Fuel Fleet Maintenance: Service and repair heavy diesel, CNG, gas, and electrically operated equipment and vehicles.
Tool Competency: Safely and skillfully utilize a variety of power and hand tools. (Note: Must possess, provide, and maintain personal tools necessary for heavy/hydraulic equipment maintenance).
Continuous Learning: Maintain up-to-date working knowledge of evolving industry technology through technical manuals, seminars, and testing.
Planning & Administration
Workflow Scheduling: Plan and schedule repairs utilizing the M5 Planner system, ensuring all necessary parts are procured for a successful plan.
Documentation: Accurately complete daily reports, work orders, parts ordering, and other required administrative tasks.
Equipment Review: Assist in reviewing mechanical write-ups on equipment and coordinating subsequent repair schedules.
Safety, Compliance & Mentorship
Safety First: Maintain a clean, organized work area and strictly comply with all occupational health and safety regulations.
Regulatory Compliance: Conform in all respects to applicable federal, state/provincial, and local laws, ordinances, and company directives.
Team Support: Assist with the training, orientation, and mentorship of new employees.
Adaptability: Perform additional duties and responsibilities as required or requested by management.
Education: High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED); a technical diploma is highly desired.
Experience: A minimum of one (1) year of experience as a diesel mechanic.
Software Skills: Experience using diagnostic software is a plus. Must be computer literate, possess the ability to be trained on software systems, and demonstrate a willingness to learn.
Safety Criteria: Must be able to meet relevant criteria for safety-sensitive functions according to Company standards.
Strong communication skills to interact effectively with team members and management.
Demonstrated ability to follow detailed instructions, work independently, and maintain accurate records.
Ability to read, understand, and effectively use technical repair and parts manuals written in English.
Ability to operate any vehicle or equipment necessary to perform the job.
Possess the full physical ability required to perform all aspects of the role.
Physical Movement: Ability to stand, sit, walk, use hands and fingers, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, climb, balance, taste, and smell.
Stamina: Frequent physical effort required, including handling heavy tools and equipment. Must be able to frequently lift, push, and pull up to 100 pounds.
Focus: Continuous concentrated mental and visual attention required.
Vision Requirements: Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Environment: The work environment is usually loud. Frequently exposed to loud noise, humidity, hot and cold weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, vibration, toxic/caustic chemicals, fumes, and airborne particles.
Heights: Occasionally required to work in high, precarious places.
