Overview
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Class 1 - Truck Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely transporting freight across various routes, ensuring timely deliveries, and maintaining the integrity of cargo. This role offers an opportunity to work with a dynamic team in a fast-paced environment, utilizing both driving and equipment operation skills to support our operational needs.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate commercial trucks to transport freight to designated locations
- Load and unload cargo using forklifts/skidsteers and heavy equipment as needed
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with regulations
- Maintain accurate delivery logs and documentation for each trip
- Assist with loading and securing freight, ensuring proper handling to prevent damage
- Perform basic vehicle maintenance and minor repairs, including automotive repairs when necessary
- Follow all traffic laws, safety protocols, and company policies during transportation duties
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, warehouse staff, and clients regarding delivery schedules and issues
Qualifications
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record (Driver's Abstract Required)
- Experience operating heavy equipment such as forklifts/skidsteers and other industrial machinery is preferred
- Knowledge and competence of freight handling procedures and safety standards in transportation
- Ability to operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently, including automotive repair skills is a plus
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for documentation and safety checks
- Physical ability to lift heavy loads and perform manual tasks related to freight handling
- Prior experience in commercial driving or logistics is required
- Ability to work independently, follow directions accurately, and adhere to schedules
- Proficient communications skills (English required)
