Job Title: Chicken Catching Crew – Telehandler Operator

Job Summary:
We are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Telehandler Operator to join our Chicken Catching Crew. The operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the telehandler to support poultry catching activities, including the handling of transport modules, crates, and general equipment used in poultry operations. This role involves working in a team oriented space; during early mornings, late evenings (including night shifts), often in fast-paced and physically demanding environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate a telehandler to load poultry transport modules and equipment.
- Conduct daily equipment inspections and perform basic maintenance
- Assist the chicken catching crew by moving equipment to and from barns.
- Ensure safe handling of birds and adherence to animal welfare protocols.
- Coordinate with team members and supervisors to ensure smooth operations.
- Follow all health, safety, and biosecurity procedures.
- Report any issues with equipment, facilities, or animal welfare immediately.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas.
- Support manual catching tasks as needed during downtime.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience operating telehandlers or similar machinery (agricultural preferred).
- Valid G or D drivers license with clean record.
- Capable of working in hot, cold, dusty, and confined environments.
- Comfortable working with live poultry and in close team settings.
- Reliable transportation to job sites (which may vary daily).
- Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Strong commitment to safety and animal welfare.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment while also being self-motivated.
- Strong understanding of safety protocols related to heavy equipment operation.
Working Conditions:
- Physically demanding work with evening hours, standing, lifting, and repetitive motion.
- Work takes place in poultry barns, and outdoor farm environments.
- Exposure to dust, feathers, and varying weather conditions.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory.
