Position Summary
The General Accountant is responsible for supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the hotel through the accurate preparation, analysis, and reporting of financial information. This role plays a key part in maintaining the integrity of the hotel's accounting records, ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal controls.
Reporting to the Controller, the General Accountant is responsible for preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, month-end working papers, financial analyses, and statutory tax filings. The position assists with budgeting, forecasting, year-end review preparation, and other financial reporting requirements while providing support across accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger functions as needed.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and post journal entries, perform monthly account reconciliations and maintain general ledgers;
- Prepare and maintain month end working papers and perform expense variance analysis;
- Prepare Monthly bank reconciliation;
- Prepare monthly GST, PST, TransLink, and other hotel taxes return;
- Assist in annual year end review working paper and documents;
- Assist in budgeting process, including preparation of monthly budget variance reports;
- Assist in annual income tax filings and other regulatory filings; and
- Ad hoc projects as required.
Qualifications
- Working towards or completed your CPA Designation;
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in Intermediate role(s);
- Experience working in/with hotel companies and knowledge;
- Experience in full cycle accounting including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliation and general ledger maintenance;
- Experience in month end or quarter end close, including preparation of working papers such as prepaid amortization, fixed asset depreciation, balance sheet GL reconciliations, etc;
- Must have strong verbal and written communication skills and great attention to details;
- Experience with Sage 50 system is considered an asset;
- Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment;
- A team player who can work independently with minimum supervision; and
- Proficient in MS Office products.

Pay: $60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
