As the Shop Foreman at Shamrock Farms, you will oversee the daily operations of the maintenance shop, ensuring the effective management of farm machinery and logistics. Your mechanical expertise and leadership skills will be essential to maintaining high standards of safety, efficiency, and productivity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintenance Management: Perform regular inspections and maintenance of farm machinery, identify repair needs, and coordinate repair schedules.
- Operation of Machinery: Operate various types of farm machinery, including tractors, combines and other equipment as needed.
- Yard Logistics: Manage yard logistics, including the organization of machinery and materials, ensuring proper storage and accessibility.
- Staff Training: Train and mentor staff on machinery operation, safety protocols, and best practices in farm logistics.
- Inventory Management: Maintain an inventory of parts and supplies needed for machinery repair and maintenance, placing orders as necessary.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure all safety regulations and procedures are followed within the shop environment and on the farm.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the farm owner and other to ensure seamless coordination of farm operations.
Qualifications:
- Proven mechanical experience, particularly with farm machinery.
- Journeyman mechanic certification is an asset
- Strong understanding of farm operations and logistics.
- Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role is preferred.
- Ability to operate various types of farm machinery safely and efficiently.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
