Position Summary
Join Quinte Health's Surgical Unit as a dedicated nurse, where you'll engage with a diverse range of patients, spanning medical, surgical, and palliative care needs. With a typical nurse-to-patient ratio of 5:1, you'll have the opportunity to provide personalized care in a supportive environment. Our unit boasts 36 beds, including two specialized palliative care suites, ensuring comprehensive end-of-life support.

Success on Quinte 4 requires strong time management skills, the ability to prioritize effectively, and a willingness to seek guidance from PCL staff when needed.

Required
- Current Certificate of Registration in good standing, or eligible for registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Completion of Coronary Care 1 or equivalent (ex. QHC Cardio Concepts) or able obtain within 6 months.
- Current certification in BCLS or CPR, or proof of enrolment in a recertification course. You will be asked to provide a copy of your valid certificate at the time of hire/transfer.
- Minimum of 6 months nursing experience on a medical or surgical inpatient unit or final consolidation on an inpatient surgical unit within the last year.
- Capable of coping with a physically demanding workload (Physical Demands Analysis PDA available to review).
- Must have a satisfactory Criminal Record / Vulnerable Sector Check.
Duties
- Utilizes the nursing process in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care.
- Performs acts requiring specialized knowledge, skills and judgement in assessing health needs and in planning, administering and evaluating patient care.
- Responsible for supervision of other members of the health care team who contribute to the provision of patient care.
- Maintains nursing records.
- Participates in CI Programs to ensure a high level of patient care.
- Other duties as assigned.
