Responsibilities
- Safely operate large commercial trucks on long-haul cross-border routes, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Collaborate with team members to coordinate driving schedules, ensuring consistent and efficient deliveries.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, including checking brakes, lights, tires, and cargo securement.
- Manage freight loading and unloading processes, utilizing forklift skills when necessary to handle cargo safely and efficiently.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, border officials, and customers to confirm delivery details and resolve any issues promptly.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, freight documentation, and vehicle maintenance records in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Operate heavy equipment as needed for loading or unloading freight, demonstrating proficiency in heavy equipment operation.
Qualifications
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record.
- Proven experience in commercial driving, especially on long-distance or cross-border routes.
- Ability to operate forklifts and other heavy equipment safely and efficiently.
- Knowledge of freight handling procedures and securement techniques.
- Basic automotive repair skills to perform minor maintenance or troubleshoot vehicle issues during trips.
- Strong communication skills for coordinating with team members, border officials, and clients.
- Physical ability to perform inspections, load/unload freight, and handle heavy equipment safely.
