Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Lawyer to join our firm, with a focus on commercial and real estate matters. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a recently called lawyer or early-career professional to develop practical skills in a fast-paced practice. The successful candidate will work closely with senior lawyers on a range of transactions, including residential and commercial real estate, financing, and general corporate/commercial matters.
Responsibilities
- Assist with residential and commercial real estate transactions, including purchases, sales, refinances, and private lending matters
- Prepare and review transaction documents, including agreements of purchase and sale, closing documents, mortgage instructions, and security documents
- Conduct title searches, review title and off-title matters, and address related issues
- Communicate with clients, realtors, lenders, and opposing counsel to facilitate smooth closings
- Assist with corporate/commercial matters, including incorporations, minute book maintenance, and basic commercial agreements
- Conduct legal research and assist with drafting memoranda and client correspondence as needed
- Support senior lawyers in managing files from opening through to closing
Qualifications
- J.D. (or equivalent) and member in good standing (or eligible for membership) with the Law Society of Alberta
- 0–2 years of experience in real estate and/or commercial law (articling experience acceptable)
- Familiarity with real estate conveyancing processes and documentation is an asset
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple files in a deadline-driven environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proactive, organized, and able to work both independently and as part of a team
- Experience with conveyancing software (e.g., LDD, Clio, Unity or similar) is an asset
Pay: $36,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
