We are seeking an experienced Safety Advisor to support construction and maintenance projects in Labrador City. This position plays a key role in promoting a proactive safety culture by working closely with project management, supervisors, employees, contractors, and the client to ensure all work is completed safely and in compliance with company policies, client requirements, and applicable legislation.

Key Responsibilities
Promote and support a strong safety culture across all project activities.
Ensure compliance with company safety programs, IOC site requirements, and Newfoundland and Labrador Occupational Health and Safety legislation.
Conduct site inspections, audits, hazard assessments, and job-level risk assessments.
Investigate incidents, near misses, and injuries, determine root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
Monitor corrective actions to ensure timely completion and effectiveness.
Support the development, review, and implementation of safe work procedures.
Lead or participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, and employee safety coaching.
Maintain accurate safety documentation, inspection records, and investigation reports.
Participate in Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee (JOHSC) activities.
Manage specialized PPE programs, including training, inspection, maintenance, and record keeping.
Liaise with IOC representatives and project teams to ensure client safety expectations are met.
Exercise stop-work authority when unsafe conditions pose an imminent risk to people, equipment, or the environment.
Perform other safety-related duties as required.
Qualifications
Previous experience in a Health and Safety Advisor role is required.
Experience in mining, heavy industrial, or construction environments is considered a strong asset.
Working knowledge of Newfoundland and Labrador Occupational Health and Safety legislation.
Professional safety designation (or willingness to obtain one) is considered an asset.
Strong incident investigation and hazard identification skills.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational abilities.
Ability to influence and build positive working relationships with employees, supervisors, contractors, and clients.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and contractor management systems such as Cognibox.
Valid Class 5 driver's license.
