Position Overview:
The Garbage Truck Loader is responsible for assisting the driver in the collection of residential or commercial waste and recyclable materials. This role is physically demanding and requires efficiency, teamwork, and adherence to safety standards to ensure timely and safe waste collection.

Key Responsibilities:
- Collect waste, recyclables, or organics from residential or commercial properties using manual and mechanical methods.
- Load materials into the truck efficiently and safely, coordinating with the driver to optimize route efficiency.
- Ensure proper handling of materials to avoid spills, damage, or contamination.
- Maintain awareness of safety protocols while working in traffic or around machinery.
- Communicate effectively with the driver, crew members, and, when necessary, customers.
- Conduct basic inspections of equipment and report any issues to the driver or supervisor.
- Assist with maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the truck and work area.
- Follow all company safety guidelines and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in waste collection, recycling, or general labor is an asset.
- Physically capable of performing manual lifting, bending, climbing, and repetitive tasks throughout the day.
- Ability to work efficiently in a team-oriented environment.
- Strong attention to safety and awareness of surroundings, especially when working near traffic or heavy machinery.
- Must be able to successfully complete pre-employment screening, including drug and alcohol testing.
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to providing excellent service.
- Valid driver’s license is an asset but not required.
Working Conditions:
- Outdoor work in various weather conditions.
- Exposure to noise, odors, and physical demands such as lifting heavy objects.
- Early morning or extended shifts may be required depending on route schedules.
