Peters Excavating Ltd. is a Saskatchewan-based construction and excavation company serving communities since 1956. We specialize in earthwork, grading, site servicing, demolition, concrete removal, and related civil projects of all sizes.
About the Role
As a Heavy Equipment Operator at Peters Excavating, you will operate equipment such as excavators, graders, dozers, and skid steers to support road construction and earthworks projects.
This role requires safe equipment operation, attention to grade and site conditions, and a strong commitment to maintaining equipment and following safe work practices.
Key Responsibilities
· Operate heavy equipment including excavators, graders, dozers, and skid steers
· Perform excavation, backfilling, rough and fine grading, and material handling
· Load trucks and manage stockpiling of materials
· Conduct daily pre-operational inspections and complete circle checks
· Clean, lubricate, and maintain equipment to ensure safe operation
· Perform minor equipment maintenance and report mechanical issues
· Follow company safety policies, safe ground disturbance procedures, and site safety requirements
· Assist with snow removal operations when required
· Work with foremen and crew members to complete projects safely and efficiently
· Assist with labour tasks when required
Qualifications
· 1–2 years of experience operating heavy equipment in a construction environment
· Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and clean driver’s abstract
· Experience operating excavators and other earthmoving equipment
· Mechanical aptitude considered an asset
· Heavy Equipment Operator Trade Certification considered an asset
· Class 3A or 1A license considered an asset
· CSA-approved steel-toed boots required
· Willingness to work extended hours and Saturdays during construction season
