Greyhaven Exotic Bird Sanctuary is a registered non-profit organization. Our purpose is to provide rescue, rehabilitation, education and adoption services to companion parrots.
We are currently recruiting for a personable, energetic and hardworking individual to assist with parrot care in South Delta.
Primary Function:
The Shelter Assistant is responsible for feeding, cleaning, and socializing (time permitting) with the birds as well as care of the facility.
Job Duties include but are not limited to:
- Cage cleaning (grates, trays, perches, wiping down inside/outside surfaces
- Provide fresh water, food, and serve veggies
- General shelter cleaning – Vacuum, cleaning floors, wiping down other areas as needed
- Clean kitchen area before finishing shift and check all cage doors/food/water dishes
Knowledge:
· Bird/animal knowledge would be very helpful
Experience:
- Must be 18 years or older
- Must be able to stand for length of shift, lift 25 lbs. if needed
- Full training provided
Hours/Days: Part-time… every Wednesday/Saturday/Sunday with the possibility of more days if needed….3-4 hour shifts (depending on workload) – start at 9 am
Note: This position can be physically demanding and a fast paced role (bending/kneeling).
You will be on your feet and on the move for the duration of your shift. Also,
parrots naturally produce dander from their feathers which creates dust. If you have allergies to dust or nuts this position may not be the right fit for you.

Pay: $18.25 per hour
