About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic, energetic, and certified Aqua Fit Instructor to join our team. The ideal candidate is passionate about helping participants improve their health, mobility, and overall fitness through engaging, safe, and effective water-based exercise classes.
This position is perfect for someone who enjoys working with individuals of all ages and fitness levels while creating a fun, motivating, and inclusive environment in the pool.
Responsibilities
- Plan and lead safe, engaging, and effective Aqua Fit classes for participants of varying fitness levels.
- Create workouts that improve cardiovascular fitness, muscular strength, flexibility, balance, and mobility.
- Modify exercises to accommodate beginners, older adults, participants with physical limitations, and advanced fitness levels.
- Provide clear demonstrations, coaching, and encouragement throughout each class.
- Monitor participants to ensure proper technique and safety during all activities.
- Conduct pre-class equipment setup and post-class cleanup.
- Maintain a positive, welcoming, and inclusive atmosphere for all participants.
- Communicate professionally with members and answer questions regarding class programming.
- Ensure all aquatic safety guidelines and facility policies are followed.
- Report any incidents, hazards, or equipment concerns promptly.
Qualifications
- Current Aqua Fitness Instructor Certification from a recognized organization (e.g., CanFitPro, WaterART, YMCA, Aquafit Canada, or equivalent).
- Current CPR/AED and First Aid Certification.
- National Lifeguard certification is considered an asset but not required (depending on facility requirements).
- Previous group fitness or aqua fitness instruction experience preferred.
- Strong communication and motivational skills.
- Ability to lead classes for diverse populations and fitness abilities.
- Comfortable instructing both shallow-water and deep-water classes (if applicable).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching Active Aging, Arthritis-Friendly, Rehabilitation, Prenatal/Postnatal, or High-Intensity Aqua Fitness classes.
- Additional Group Fitness Certification.
- Knowledge of exercise modifications for special populations.
- Experience working in recreation, community, or fitness facilities.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to lead energetic classes both in and out of the water.
- Ability to demonstrate movements and remain active for the duration of each class.
- Ability to lift and carry aquatic fitness equipment when required.
- Comfortable working in warm, humid aquatic environments.
