Job Description
We are seeking an experienced, hospitality-driven Operations Manager / Sommelier to join our leadership team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, high-standard dining environment and is passionate about exceptional guest experiences, team development, wine programming, and operational excellence.
They manage daily restaurant operations and support the General Manager in their pursuit and delivery of consistent and excellent guest experiences, while effectively enforcing the company’s policies and procedures. The OMS must be able to competently perform duties in the absence of the General Manager and eagerly participate in educational and training opportunities.
The ideal candidate leads with professionalism, warmth, accountability, and entrepreneurial energy while maintaining a strong presence on the floor and within the hospitality community.

Responsibilities
Guest Experience & Relations
- Deliver genuine, elevated hospitality to every guest
- Build and maintain relationships with regular guests, VIPs, industry professionals, and public figures
- Maintain accurate guest records including preferences, dietary restrictions, and dining history
- Handle guest concerns and service recovery professionally and promptly
- Create memorable experiences that encourage guest retention and repeat business
Team Leadership & Staff Development
- Support recruitment, onboarding, training, coaching, and performance management
- Lead daily service briefings and maintain high staff morale and accountability
- Provide in-the-moment coaching and constructive feedback during service
- Conduct performance reviews and assist with progressive discipline when necessary
- Foster a culture rooted in professionalism, collaboration, dialogue, and growth
Wine & Beverage Management
- Manage wine inventory and ordering processes
- Recommend thoughtful food and beverage pairings to guests
- Ensure proper wine service standards, glassware usage, and beverage presentation
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships
- Contribute to beverage education and staff training initiatives
Operations Management
- Oversee daily restaurant operations including staffing, cleanliness, organization, and service execution
- Ensure compliance with all food safety, health, and sanitation standards
- Maintain quality control and professional appearance standards across the restaurant
- Manage labour costs, staffing levels, and scheduling efficiencies
- Maintain accurate POS programming including features, shortages, and 86’d items
- Respond to and manage guest reviews on OpenTable and related platforms
Training & Culture
- Develop engaging and knowledge-driven training initiatives
- Collaborate on workshops, guest speaker opportunities, and staff development programs
- Recognize and celebrate employee achievements and milestones
- Work closely with senior staff through regular coaching and 1:1 meetings
- Help maintain and update service manuals, food bibles, and operational systems
Weekly Deliverables
- Operate as Manager-on-Duty as scheduled
- Lead guest retention and relationship-building initiatives
- Coach captains and front-of-house staff to elevate service standards
- Oversee wine ordering and inventory management
- Maintain organized storage, office, and operational areas
- Monitor labour percentages, clock-in hours, and tip pool accuracy
- Ensure all office and service supply par levels are maintained
Qualifications
- Previous leadership experience in upscale or high-volume hospitality environments
- Strong wine knowledge and passion for food & beverage culture
- Exceptional communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Ability to remain composed and solutions-focused in fast-paced environments
- Experience with POS systems, OpenTable, and scheduling/labour management platforms preferred
- A genuine passion for hospitality and team development

Experience
- Restaurant management: 2+ years preferred
- Fine dining or upscale hospitality management experience required
- WSET certifications, wine knowledge or sommelier experience strongly preferred
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $50,000.00-$55,000.00 per year
