1. Job Title: Female Assistant Coach All summer tennis programs (1 position)
- Commitment: Mon/Wed 4 hours from June 22nd-June 28th, Mon-Fri 30 hours/week from June 29th-August 30th
- Mandatory Availability: Mon/Wed (5:45-8pm) from June 22nd and Mon-Thurs (5:45-8pm) from July 7th, 2026 - August 27th, 2026)
- Duration: 10 weeks
- Location: Grandravine Community Center (Tues/Thurs, 23 Grandravine Dr.), Fountainhead Tennis Club (Mon/Wed, 445 Sentinel Rd.), local courts as needed
2. Job Title: Female Assistant Coach summer tennis programs (1 position)
- Commitment: Tues/Thurs from June 22nd, 2026 - August 27th, 2026 and
- Mandatory Availability: Mon/Wed (6-8pm) from June 22nd and Mon-Thurs (6-8pm) from July 7th, 2026 - August 27th, 2026)

3. Job Title: Female Assistant Coach Summer Girls Tennis Program (1 position)
- Commitment: Mon/Wed from June 22nd-August 27th, 2026
- Duration: 5:45 pm - 8:00 pm (4.5 hrs/week), 10 weeks
- Location: Fountainhead Tennis Club (445 Sentinel Rd.)
4. Job Title: Assistant Coach Summer Tennis League (1 position)
- Commitment: Tues/Thurs from July 7th, 2026 - August 27th, 2026
- Duration: 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm (4 hrs/week), 8 weeks
- Location: Grandravine Community Center (23 Grandravine Dr.)
Compensation: $18-$20/hour

The Jane/Finch Community Tennis Association is a community-based not-for-profit organization that is committed to operating within an Anti-Oppressive and trauma-informed framework to engage our community. JFCTA utilizes sport as a vehicle to develop the capacity of youth within our organization and community. Our programs are explicitly designed to be low-cost, and barrier-free.
Job Description:
We are seeking tennis instructors to be the Assistant Coach of our summer tennis programs. The right candidate for these position will have experience in delivering a tennis program to people of various ages, will help support the Head coach to lead practices, provide instruction to players of varying skill levels, and create a fun, positive learning environment. Ideal candidates share our values, have a passion for tennis, great communication skills, and experience working with youth and children. Please see numbers 1-4 for role title, duration, location, and commitment.
Assistant Coach Responsibilities:
The Assistant Coach will report for summer tennis programs as outlined for the assistant coach role they apply and get hired for. The Assistant Coach will also be required to report for an on-court/in-class training session ahead of the program start date, TBD.
- Prepare weekly lesson plans outlining age/skill appropriate tennis and mentorship activities.
- Encourage and motivate young players of all skill levels
- Lead groups, prepare activities, and implement activities in accordance to lesson plans
- Supervise participants to create a safe and fun learning environment
- Communicate with assistant coach, head coach, colleagues, and parents/guardians in a professional manner
- Adhere to the policies and procedures of organization and program locations
Skills and Attributes:
- Experience working with children and youth in the Jane/Finch or similar community
- Have the ability to instruct and demonstrate the 5 fundamentals of tennis
- Ability to organize and lead children and youth
- Punctuality and sufficient time management skills
- Work responsibility and collaboratively as a part of a team and independently
- Be respectful of the values and code of conduct of the organization
- Be organized and punctual to achieve and finish tasks on time with quality
- Strong ability to problem solve and adapt to situations
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants at all times
Assets:
- Instructor Certificate (not required)
- Emergency First Aid and CPR Certificates and Vulnerable Sector Check (or willingness to obtain)
- Experience instructing and teaching the sport of tennis
