Position Overview
The Tank Farm Attendant is responsible for supervising all yard activities including the safe delivery and refuelling of petroleum products, performing necessary pre-operations checks, inspections, maintenance on equipment, ensuring inventory is adequately maintained and in compliance with all applicable Federal & Provincial Legislation including North Atlantic’s Health, Safety & Environmental Management System.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Processing/verifying paperwork to ensure accurate and timely invoicing.
- Operational start-up of all pumps, initiate electrical supply and perform pre-operations checks.
- Communicate product inventory as required.
- Monitor the loading and offloading process and address any health, safety and operational concerns.
- Maintain all business transaction paperwork and perform daily stock report(s).
- Conduct facility orientation for new drivers and business partners.
- Perform routine inspections in compliance with company, customer, government and industry standards.
- Calculate volumes using external temperature readings on propane tanks.
- Receive cylinders, vent and evacuate propane.
- Respond to emergency situations in accordance with North Atlantic’s Emergency Response Plan.
- Escalate any major operational issues as per company guidelines.
- Ensure adherence to North Atlantic’s Health, Safety, & Environmental policies, procedures, both Federal & Provincial Regulatory Legislation, standards and codes.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum high school education, post secondary education in a trade is an asset.
- 2-3 years experience working with propane and/or petroleum products preferred.
- Trained and experienced with Canada’s Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act and Regulations.
- Fork Lift Operator Certification is an asset.
- Working knowledge of Environmental Legislation.
- Fall Protection Training is an asset.
- Canadian Fuels Association Driver Certification is an asset.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and planning abilities.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
