Job Overview
Carvik Steel Ltd. is looking for an experienced Welder / Fabricator / Ironworker to join our team. This position includes a mix of shop fabrication and structural steel installation in the field.
We are looking for someone dependable who can work independently, read drawings and take pride in producing quality work.
Responsibilities
- Fabricate structural steel and miscellaneous metals from shop drawings
- Fit and weld beams, columns, stairs, railings, frames, embeds and other steel components
- Perform field installation and structural steel erection
- Read and understand shop drawings and construction drawings
- Measure, lay out, cut, drill, fit and weld steel
- Operate common fabrication equipment and power tools
- Assist with rigging, loading and unloading steel
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Follow company and site safety requirements
Qualifications
- Previous welding, steel fabrication or ironworking experience
- Strong fitting and layout skills
- Able to read shop drawings and work with minimal supervision
- Experience with structural steel and miscellaneous metals
- Valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation
- Physically able to perform shop and field work
- CWB welding tickets are preferred
- Fall protection, aerial lift and forklift certifications are considered assets
