Your role at a glance
As a 310T heavy trucks mechanic, you will work closely with our technical and operational team, following a management philosophy based on teamwork, innovation, respect, safety and passion for what we do. The goal of our Gogama facility is to provide complete, customized technical solutions in mining, geological and blasting expertise to meet the needs of our on-site customer (Côté Gold IAMGOLD). Your role will be to carry out maintenance and repair work on heavy equipment. You'll also look for the root cause of problems by performing diagnostics and carrying out various repairs on mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical equipment. You'll have the opportunity to develop your expertise by carrying out a variety of activities related to your know-how.
Role & Responsibilities
- Carry out repairs and preventive maintenance on heavy equipment (mechanical, hydraulic or electrical breakdowns);
- Fill out and return work orders issued by supervisor;
- Identify operating problems by investigating the cause and locating the source, carry out functional tests and make any necessary adjustments/repairs;
- Estimate the time and parts needed for repairs, and purchase missing parts if necessary;
- Ensure compliance with established standards and procedures;
- Work on the equipment of other EPC Canada entities when they arrive on site with problems, and resolve them so that they can get back on the road safely;
- Respond to mechanical emergencies (on site or at the mine) to ensure smooth operations;
- Keep the parts inventory up to date and order new parts when authorized by the supervisor;
- Suggest modifications to improve the reliability of heavy equipment;
- Keep work areas clean and safe (workbench, garage, etc.);
- Perform all other related tasks.
Qualifications required
- Hold a vocational diploma in heavy vehicle mechanics, construction equipment mechanics or any relevant experience;
- 3 years or more experience in heavy vehicle or heavy machinery mechanics;
- Having your 310T licence
- In-depth knowledge of diesel combustion engines, DEF systems and vehicle air conditioning;
- Good physical condition and ability to climb (truck ladder) and handle loads ranging from 5 kg to 25 kg;
- No legal impediments related to employment;
- Knowledge of explosive products and legislation relating to the transportation of hazardous materials (an asset).
