JOB DESCRIPTION
- Perform dental hygiene services and procedures, including dental prophylaxis, scaling, fluoride, sealants, and root planning.
- Complete a thorough assessment of the patient's teeth, bone, and periodontal tissues, and document any abnormalities or suspected conditions.
- Educate patients on good oral hygiene and creating awareness on good oral techniques.
- Using dental instruments to clean accretions, calcareous deposits, and stains from teeth and beneath margins of gums
- Using probes to examine periodontal recessed gums and other signs of gum disease.
- Taking impressions, x-rays, and patient photos whenever needed and required.
- Recording dental decay and disease for diagnosis and treatment by dentists
- Create treatment plans, book patients pending appointments and next re-care visits.
- Apply prophylactic/and bacterial materials, fissure sealants and topical fluorides to help prevent tooth decay.
- Check for underlying conditions that could degenerate into dental disease if not caught early such as mouth cancer.
- Taking dental molds of patients’ teeth for the fabrication of customized mouthguards and retainers (Ortho Hygienist)
- Clean and sterilize all equipment and working surfaces to the required standards at the end of each session.
- Maintain patient dental records and update all medical history as necessary while obeying all dental ethical guidelines including all rules on confidentiality.
- Follow Health & Safety guidelines in all aspects including when taking x-rays, handling mercury, disposing of sharp and clinical waste and resuscitation.
- Manage the patient experience through exceptional customer service skills and excellent presentation skills.
