Shipper/Receiver/Forklift Operator

Chewters Chocolates is looking for a highly organized and diligent person to efficiently manage the storage and inventory of our precious ingredients! On paper, we’re seeking a Shipper/Receiver to join our team. As our our Shipper/Receiver, you will be responsible for picking and shipping orders, receiving materials, transferring and storing materials, filling out inventory records and ensuring the warehouse is a clean and safe workplace.
Key Responsibilities:
- Warehouse Operation and Production Support – Making sure that the right materials are supplied to production as needed, staging finished products in the warehouse, completing records for shipping and receiving, picking orders, materials transfer and loading and unloading of trucks
- Health & Safety, Quality Assurance, Safe Quality Food (SQF) and 5S – Responsible for quality control (in/out), demonstrating high standards of work practices, food safety and safety conscious behavior, following SOPs, GMP, 5S, and other SQF standards for the warehouse
Key Skills Required:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a manufacturing warehouse; food industry preferred.
- Class 2 Forklift license certified and experienced
- Experience with RF guns and inventory scanning systems
- Able to follow company policies and procedures especially HACCP, SQF, CFIA – Chain of Responsibilities.
- A safety-oriented approach to work and to others in a manufacturing environment
- Able to work independently and with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment and with good attention to detail
- Good communication skills in English written and verbal. Able to explain self and listen to others in a respectful manner
- Able to collaborate and communicate with cross functioning departments.
Working Conditions:
- Able to work on foot for long periods of time and performing repetitive work
- Occasionally climbing ladders
- Wear protective clothing, such as coats, hair nets and safety shoes
- Exposure to machinery sounds and loud noise levels
- Ability to push, pull, bend and lift items in a warehouse setting

- Unionized position with the United Steelworkers Local 2009
