Calian Belgium is a legal entity registered in Belgium that serves as a hub for innovation and collaboration aimed at supporting the Belgium Army with training and exercise solutions. Our solutions combine local expertise, proven delivery methods, and interoperable live, virtual, and constructive (LVC) simulation to ensure “train-as-you-will fight” is realistic, repeatable and measurable, while remaining fully aligned with national priorities.
Calian has been selected as a contender to support the Belgian Army Simulation Centre (SIMCEN). We are ready to deliver Belgian-built capabilities, underpinned by decades of experience supporting the Canadian Army, British Army and the wider North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) ecosystem.
As part of this initiative, Calian is currently looking for a Technical Services Manager to support the Belgian Army Simulation Centre (SIMCEN) in Leopoldsburg, Belgium.
- Responsible to the Contract Coordinator for all Technical Domain activities and deliverables
- Manages all personnel assigned to the Technical Domain
- Directs and prioritizes technical support activities in support of SIMCEN operations
- Coordinates technical support requirements with SIMCEN and Belgian Defence personnel
- Assigns responsibilities and monitors performance of Technical Domain personnel
- Ensures the availability of technical resources required to support planned and unplanned training activities
- Provides technical advice and recommendations to the Contract Manager regarding technical resources, network operations, simulation capabilities, and technology lifecycle considerations
- Coordinates technical support for simulation systems, software, hardware, networking infrastructure, and Synthetic Environment activities
- Oversees technical change management and integration activities performed by technical staff
- Ensures technical support services are delivered in accordance with contractual, security, safety, and quality requirements
- Identifies technical risks and develops mitigation measures to support uninterrupted contract performance
- Coordinates technical workforce development, certification, and professional training requirements
- Oversees technical reporting, documentation, and performance management activities
- Supports capability development, technology refresh, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Serves as the senior technical escalation authority for issues affecting contract performance
- Backfills Contract Coordinator as required
- Minimum Bachelor degree in Computer Science or a diploma in Information Technology or Information Systems from a recognized post-secondary institution
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Technical Manager
- Previous Belgium Defence (BD) experience is an asset
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working within the Information Technology or Information Systems fields
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in developing and managing large networks customer workstations
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in organising and leading a team of ICT technicians, IT specialists, network technicians and/or programmers
- Proficiency in Dutch AND French AND English at CEFR B2 level or higher
- You must be eligible to obtain a Belgian Security Clearance
- You must be able to work on-site
- You must be willing to travel
