Job Summary:
The Senior Accountant will be involved in month-end close, inter-company accounting, fixed asset accounting, financial reporting, audit support and process improvements.
This role operates in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and requires the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support with the month-end, quarter-end, year-end closing process including audit requests and preparation of financial close working papers with minimum supervision
- Maintain the fixed asset ledger, ensuring monthly reconciliation to the general ledger, timely and accurate recording of asset acquisitions, disposals, transfers, and depreciation.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts including prepaid expenses, fixed assets, deposits, accrued liabilities, and investigate discrepancies identified in the period.
- Provide financial information and reports to management by researching and analyzing accounting data
- Manage and reconcile intercompany balances across multiple legal entities and regions
- Support transfer pricing documentation and intercompany transactions
- Prepare and review GST/HST returns, ensuring timely and accurate filings
- Ensure compliance with CRA regulations and other Canadian statutory requirements
- Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, bank withdrawals to the financial system
- Prepare payments by verifying documentation, and requesting disbursements
- Maintain accounting controls by following corporate policies and procedures and ensuring compliance with IFRS and applicable financial reporting requirements.
- Ensure the accuracy of financial documentation for payment processing, audits, and tax purposes.
- Assist with the training, development and supervision of more junior members of the team
- Assist with projects and initiatives within the Corporate Finance team.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders to support business objectives.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting accuracy, internal controls, and operational efficiency.
- Perform other related duties as assigned with diligence, accuracy, and a commitment to meeting established timelines.
Qualifications:
- A University degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in corporate accounting and finance.
- CPA designation (or actively working towards it).
Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and applicable regulations.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Strong understanding of intercompany accounting and reconciliations.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics and AS400 is an asset.
- Accounting experience in the construction industry or a related field is preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with audit and review engagements.
- Working knowledge of IFRS.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment while managing multiple priorities.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Positive attitude with the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
- Knowledge of German is an asset.
