Part-Time Plastic Product Designer / SolidWorks Designer
Stratus Plastics is looking for a part-time Plastic Product Designer to help with product design, design modifications, and 3D printed prototypes on an as-needed basis.
This is not a full-time position. It is best suited for someone who already has a full-time job or other steady work and is looking for flexible side work after hours or on weekends.
The role involves working with SolidWorks to modify existing plastic product designs or create new product concepts. We have a Bambu 3D printer available for printing prototypes so designs can be tested, reviewed, and improved before moving forward.
Most of the work can be done from home. The designer must be physically available to come in when required to review design changes, understand the product requirements, or print/test prototypes.
Responsibilities:
- Modify existing plastic product designs in SolidWorks
- Create new plastic product concepts when needed
- Prepare files for 3D printing
- Use our Bambu 3D printer to print prototype samples
- Review printed prototypes and make design improvements
- Work with our team to understand changes required
- Help design products with manufacturability in mind
Requirements:
- Strong SolidWorks experience
- Experience designing plastic products or mechanical components
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to come in person when required to review designs or prototypes
- Flexible availability after work hours or weekends preferred
- Knowledge of injection molding is an asset
- Experience with 3D printing is an asset
