Job Summary
The Project Planning Manager & Supply Chain Planner is responsible for coordinating production planning, managing supply chain operations, and supporting day-to-day execution on the production floor within a regulated cannabis environment. This role bridges strategic planning and hands-on supervision to ensure efficient production scheduling, inventory management, and compliance with Health Canada regulations.
The ideal candidate will combine strong analytical planning skills with the ability to guide production teams, resolve operational challenges in real time, and optimize end-to-end supply chain processes.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Execution Coordination
- Develop, maintain, and continuously refine production and project schedules aligned with demand forecasts, inventory targets, and operational capacity
- Own the end-to-end execution of the production plan, ensuring scheduled activities are completed on time and in full
- Actively monitor daily and weekly production performance against plan, identifying delays, gaps, or risks in real time
- Work directly on the production floor to ensure jobs are progressing as scheduled and provide immediate direction where adjustments are required
- Coordinate cross-functional execution between, processing, packaging, quality, and logistics teams
- Adjust and re-prioritize schedules dynamically based on changing conditions (material shortages, equipment issues, labor constraints)
- Provide hands-on guidance and support to production teams during daily operations. Be an active member out on the floor - "The Quarterback."
- Hold teams accountable to timelines while providing support to remove blockers and maintain workflow continuity
- Troubleshoot operational issues and adjust priorities to maintain workflow
- Track and report on plan vs. actual performance, including output, downtime, and schedule adherence
- Identify bottlenecks and drive corrective actions to improve throughput and reliability
Supply Chain Planning
- Plan and manage inventory levels (raw materials, WIP, and finished goods) to avoid shortages or overstock
- Coordinate procurement and supplier performance to ensure timely material availability
- Analyze demand forecasts, sales trends, and seasonality to optimize planning strategies
- Maintain ERP/MRP data accuracy and generate reports to support planning decisions
- Collaborate with sales teams to ensure efficient product distribution across Canada
Compliance & Quality
- Work closely with Quality Assurance (QA) to support product quality and regulatory standards
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and optimize costs across the supply chain
- Use KPIs (e.g., fill rate, production efficiency, inventory turnover) to drive performance improvements
- Lead or support Lean/continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications/Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Business, or related field
- PMP, APICS (CPIM/CSCP), or Lean certifications are an asset
Experience
- 3–7+ years experience in production planning, supply chain, or operations management
- Experience in regulated environments (cannabis, pharmaceuticals, food production) strongly preferred
- Demonstrated experience working on or closely with a production floor
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of production planning and inventory management systems (ERP/MRP)

Work Environment

Pay: $70,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
