Our team is growing, and we are looking to hire a proactive and experienced Buyer. Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, an ideal candidate will use strong analytical skills and entrepreneurial spirit to ensure that we have the right amount of product at the right time and at the right cost in order to meet our goal of providing customer experience excellence, grow revenue, and optimize operations.

KEY REPONSIBILITIES
Purchasing functions
- Work with our suppliers to meet Vendor On Time Delivery targets.
- Order parts to cover immediate demand and production fallout while limiting inventory exposure.
- Actively pursue opportunities to reduce total cost and inventory investment.
- Qualify component costing and determine best supply options.
- Work closely with Customer Experience teams and customers to qualify subs and part replacements.
- Anticipate long lead time items or potential shortages and present a solution.
- Assist in data set-up for new materials, vendors, and BOMs.
Supplier development
- Develop and maintain supplier relationships, establish business terms, evaluate supplier performance.
- Co-ordinate, manage and qualify vendor returns (RMAs).
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS
- Directly related experience with local electronic component distributors, related industry suppliers, electronic component nomenclature, and manufacturer's part numbers.
- Strong negotiating skills (price, delivery, and special terms with suppliers).
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and verbal/written communication skills.
- Strong work ethic, self-directed, determined, customer/team-oriented, energetic, enthusiastic.
- Demonstrated tenacious follow-up ability, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to multi-task, judge priorities, and handle a variety of duties/assignments at once (sometimes under pressure) with a positive attitude.
- Computer proficiency, particularly with Microsoft Office suite of tools (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).
- Relevant post-secondary education with strong math skills.
- Experience within an ISO9001:2015 environment is an asset.
- Knowledge and experience of using MRP systems is a strong asset.
